If there's one thing we love here at Polaris DIY it's Math Rock. Especially in it's most traditional sense. Rally.'s newest release "About Time" is an exploration of Math Rock in a traditional sense with an essence of where the genre's gone in the past decade. About Time presents listeners with a style of Math that's made Philly-Emo such a critical staple to the city's musical roots. The loose airy ambiance, the almost blueish progressions, and ultimately a structure that's become iconic to the city itself. About Time opens with high energy that slowly settles into a powerfully numb yet consistent force. A Numbing sensation that's relative to that seen in other artist from the Philly Emo-Math Scene, however in this case more along the lines of bands such as Clever Girl. The Soft Sweet Bassy Tones and grooving melodies. In a sense, About Time brings a sense joy. The kind of Joy felt on a really windy summer day. It's comforting and warm, despite coming across with so much weight and dominance. About Time is excellent, in so many ways. It's in ever sense a nice warm, heated weighted blanket. Silky Soft but still heavy and warm. Rally. has absolutely demonstrated every quality that makes a great band great. The consistent tones throughout the record, the energetic construction of every track, everything about About Time just contributes to what makes it worth listening too. You can check out Rally. It's quite a murky scene right now and Rally. can absolutely be the band that shines a dim but burning light into the scene.
