Georgey V is an artist we've covered before and mentioned having high expectations for going forward, the surprisingly release of American Television only amplified our belief that Georgey V is an act to look out for.
American Television is a prime example of Lofi-Pop and Bedroom-Pop done with the upmost respect for the music first and Aesthetic second. However, what we love about Georgey V is the actual lack of focus on the Aesthetics of Lofi-Pop / Bedroom-Pop. The focus is put entirely on the authentic raw production and outstanding composition of the music. Something we don't see a lot with more authentic Lofi is a dedication to every tone accompanying the music. American Television is more than just the basic Guitar / Drum combination. It gives us Surfy Riffs and Loose Groovy drumming. Fluffy bass lines over soothing vocals and emotional lyrics all progressed with the help of driving synth. The entire album (we SERIOUSLY mean the ENTIRE album) is outstanding, an unexpected gift from the Lo-Fi Gods. This is a release we can see becoming a staple to the Bedroom / Lofi Re branding of the modern age. In no way are we surprised that Georgey V put out an incredible release, however we're surprised in how incredibly high this album sets the bar for other musicians in the Lo-Fi scene and Philly DIY scene as a whole.
