Very rarely do we discuss splits, but our friends in Nowadays and Shark Club have put out such an incredible piece of work that it's WORTH talking about. So, let's jump right into what's probably going to stay at the top of our favorite splits of the year.
Nowadays kicks off the split with their classic Upbeat Emo styling. If there's one thing Nowadays has successfully done throughout their careers, it's bring total energy with every release, and their opener for the split. Nowadays brings such wide dynamics to their song writing, which is why we've always kept them in our office bandcamp loop. Nowadays gives us what's probably going to stand out as one of their best tracks, "30th Street (Getting Home)". It's a track worth listening to on repeat over and over, especially if you grew up stuck in Cape May. The track not only gives off the Upbeat Emo vibe that Nowadays is championing, but it's just a damn good track on a damn good split.
Moving on to Shark Club, a band that we're upset to just be hearing about. Shark Club is a bright star in the Emo-Pop skyline. They close the split with two flavorful tracks that combine the essence of old Pop-Punk and current Emo-Pop, it's honestly a really unique sound. The best way to describe Shark Club, would be to tell you to imagine the best of Modern Baseball stirred around with the best of Dads, such uplifting instrumentals pushing forward such downing lyrics in the perfect mix. Shark Club is certainly a band we're going to be looking forward to more of in the future!
