After a year of delays, Philly's Math Pop / Emo Pop project "Moma" Finally released their long anticipated full release, "With You / Without You", and boy was it worth the wait! The album is a Lofi must listen to for anyone looking to get into the "genre"/Style of recording. Using various live samples and recording methods, "With You / Without You" is such a prime example of how simplicity and lofi can add so much personality to a release, even from such talented musicians. Each Track opens with a warm introduction, usually someone telling a story. But it's the characteristics of the stories and people behind them that amplify the themes and emotion of the tracks. The samples and Interludes put the listener in a state of welcome, almost putting them in the same room as the voices in the middle of their banters. However, what makes the record stand out so much is the instrumental portions, Moma's reputation for being "Philly's #1 Twinkle Daddy" is landmarked with the twinkly, lofi riffs that carry the raw and untamed vocals.
With You / Without You is worth checking out if you're into the concept and style of Lofi/Simplistic records. Moma has always been a top contender for the "barely listenable but worth listening too" Lofi Sound.
