2017 is stacking up to be the year of diverse and excellent releases from some of the east's most talented artist. "Gossamer" from Philly's Doom/Post-Rock group of the same name (Gossamer) is such a trip. An escalations of highs and lows that keeps listeners trapped in an emotional groove. Every track on the self titled captures bits of fear while mixing in hopeful and inspiring instrumentals behind the haunting vocals. Gossamer opens with "Til The Left Left Your Eyes", a seven minute tribute to sadness and a great introduction to how the rest of the release plays out. The tracks baits the listener in with such a subtle curiosity that grows with each passing verse. Out of every Track, "I Never Said Yes To This" stands out the most. It progressively demonstrates the incredible talent of the band ability to bend genres without sacrificing standard composition form. The track ends the record with a well deserved emotional outburst with screaming vocals and a pounding mix behind it, slowly fading. There's so much emotion within the entire release which on it's own justifies multiple listenings, it's a record that makes you want to see the band live and just see how much energy and passion the people behind this release actually have! Gossamer's "Gossamer" is a must listen for anyone, honestly. It's one of those records that leaves you with an eerie sense of nostalgia and sadness. There's a lot to be said about this record, we could talk about it for hours and we'd really love to! It's a powerful journey that's a sign that Gossamer is going places.
