Before anything, listening to Henry on repeat for the last few days has been an experience. Henry not only manages to be an incredible layered band, but they've managed to release a demo tape that equally manages to display much talent as well as depth in layers. "How Long is Now?" is sadly short, but packs a certain type of soft quick punch that keeps you starting the demo over and over. "a thousand points of light" opens the demo with a dreamy emo-pop with ghostly vocals that give the lyrics a haunting tone. The soft build up near the end of the track comes in softly and exits with a gentle drone leaving the synth drums to carry us into the jumping beats of Track 2, "porch". After the exciting dancy introduction to the track, those familiar spectral vocals return, slowing down the track only to have it pick back up the singer exists. There's such an incredible idea behind the writing of this track specifically, the blending of the instruments and vocalist makes everything feel so pre-generated despite everything being flesh and bone, It's (respectfully) soundtrack music to really love and jam too. The Demo closes with "redacted", a track with a similar sound to that of the bands first demo. An effects heavy acoustic track that bleeds out into a dreamy guitar/synth ballad. It's an excellent closing track, and all together a shining example of the bands pure talent when it comes to their instrumentals and song writing. "How Long is Now?" is on our recommended listening list for anyone trying to get into Philly Local music. Henry is an incredible band, featuring such young and talented artist. They're the type of band that has potential to add innovation and creativity to a scene, and they deserve all your support. You can check out "How Long is Now?"
