2016 was an incredible year for young talent, and the debut self titled ep from Cleveland Ohio's Progressive-Metal group Soleo absolutely stands out in the top. An Ep that shreds metal stereotypes and truly defines progressional metal with it's use of middle eastern scales, math influenced measures, and a fresh take on metal tones and themes. The 5 track EP does an incredible job at replicating what made classic era metal stand out so well, in terms of vibrant scales and unique instrumentals. It combines everything I love about bands like Judas Priest with bands that take it to the extreme along the lines of Protest The Hero. The record is without a doubt creative, and absolutely worth a listen, especially if you're tired of generic music or interested in up coming talent.
