Historic Self is the most recent release from Philly based Ambient/Math artist, Imisu. A record that in my opinion will be timeless due it's simply yet memorizing instrumentals. The four Track EP manages to capture various unique sounds, as well as a mixture of samples that give it an incredibly hybrid of 80s house and early experimental math. If you're ever debating on listening to American Football or Unkle and just can't figure out which one to put on, you should really consider popping on Historic Self instead. The record beautifully mixes acoustic and electronic music in ways that bring me back to the days of old Adult Swim bumps. Every Track has an eerie sense of Nostalgia and Mystery to it. Historic Self takes the listener back into their subconscious youth in a dream like trance of astonishingly ambient sounds. Every beat and measure is like a fresh living breath, as if each track is it's own living creature with it's own traits and personalities. One of my favorite instrumental records in ages, Historic Self by Imisu is a must listen. For those who enjoy listening to music on rainy days or those who can't seem to find themselves in the middle of the night, this record will take you to places you've only ever dreamed about. A breath taking journey through sound and expression.
