Demos you don't wont - Chubby Bunny

After more than a year of being absent and promising a return, we've finally gotten around to having the time and motivation to get back to what we truly feel our purpose in the scene was as people, to provide a platform to the artist who we believe deserve it the most and in all honestly, that's every single one of you who tried your hardest and even when you lose it all you keep on making art. We figured no better recent demo captured that feeling better than "Demos you don't want" by the incredibly talented Chubby Bunny. The demo itself is short and bittersweet, and the bandcamp summary itself is the best quick summary anyone could give of the feeling and thoughts these tracks provoke, "don't break up with the love of your life lmao". A painful but seemingly positive outlook on what could possibly be the darkest situation in a persons life. Either way, let's dive into the actual tracks themselves, since this has somehow now become the longest intro to a review we've ever written and if you've actually read this far thanks a lot, I personally have no idea how I managed to ramble so much about a such a short demo. "Demos you don't want" is the fourth release from hauntingly romantic indie pop artist Chubby Bunny. The demo comes in at just about 10 minutes, but it's a 10 minutes that can punch you right in your sappy emo guts over and over if you're unfortunate enough to deeply relate to the subject matter of romantic loss and rough breakups. While everyone could say they've had breakups, the types of emotion these three tracks touch onto can really spark that old nostalgic flame that you thought died out when you finally got over him or her or them. These are tracks that if left on loop could easily inspire you to chain smoke alone thinking about what could have been or how things fall apart. The Lofi production really adds a sort of lonely ambiance to the overall flavor of the demo as well. While we're always big fans at DIY Lofi here, there's always something powerful to be felt when the Lofi aesthetic compliments the subject matter of the music itself, and Demos you Don't Want is a very strong example of that outside of major and mainstream lofi / diy artist. Overall, Demos you don't want comes across as an expressive piece of art as much as it does as a demo piece. To me, and hopefully to others, this isn't just a demo. The idea of seeing the title as a play on the subject of breakups itself is on the table. "Demos you Don't Want" could easily be seen as a self deprecating sense of humor or as a reflection of the thoughts provoked by the demo itself, to see it as more than a demo but as a coping mechanism for a great loss that everyone faces at least once in their life time. And if there's truth to that or not, honestly we can't help but see it as beautiful. If you'd like to support Chubby Bunny and give "Demos you don't want" a listen to on your own, which we suggest, than feel free to check out the wonderful links down below.
